about me
"Allow me to introduce myself..."
I am Dunwoody Mirvil, an educator, performer, lifelong learner, Southpaw and Dragonball Z enthusiast.
For more than 25 years, equipping and cultivating the next generation of trombonists has been my mission. I picked up my first trombone in my 6th-grade band class, and the rest, as they say, is history.
That one experience helped shape the trajectory of my life. Music, specifically the trombone, has opened doors this Haitian-American kid from North Miami could only dream of. From performing at Super Bowl XLI with Prince as a member of the famed FAMU Marching 100 to earning my Doctorate of Music Performance from Florida State University, the trombone has given me countless opportunities to share my innate love for the arts, display my passion for performing on some of the world's biggest stages, and fuel my drive to teach others.
I live for the "lightbulb moment" in teaching when skill and artistry combine in a student's mind. It's the best part of what I do each day as a trombone educator, performer, and arts advocate. It's my goal to help unlock the potential of every aspiring performer, educator, and artist who crosses my path - one slide at a time.
